Becoming a teacher

It all started with a major career change over twenty-five years ago when my love for languages took me to London to gain further qualifications and eventually become an English teacher. After a few years of working in language schools and other institutions based in my city, I embarked on the adventure of going freelance. What a great decision! 

Later on in my career, I decided to branch out into Spanish teaching as well. It seemed like a natural move. Understanding the internal logic of English grammar gives me an advantage in acting as a bridge between the two languages. My students’ incredible drive is admirable and inspiring. Teaching Spanish represents a door to the world for me. 

My lessons & teaching style

For over 25 years now, I have been able to develop my own teaching style, accommodating my students’ needs and meeting incredible people along the way. I currently teach one-to-one students and small groups, both in person and online. I am a true believer in the idea that teachers need to continuously develop themselves, and that is why I attend Teaching Conferences and Webinars regularly. Staying inspired helps me pass that energy on to my students. And having eager students keeps me on my toes. Win-win!

Promoting students’ speaking skills is central to my lessons. I keep my own talking time to a minimum so that you can make the most of your class time by communicating, receiving corrections, and getting relevant feedback.

My ultimate goal is to make sure you feel like you are taking steps in the right direction with every single class. While lesson materials are always chosen based on your unique needs, I also encourage self-learning. Because of this, you can expect some homework whenever possible to keep your momentum going between sessions.

About me

Some of my passions include hiking, reading, gardening and dancing. I treasure spending quality time with family and friends, but I also enjoy solo travelling, which opens doors to meeting new people and results in awesome experiences. Learning about dog communication is another interest that keeps me busy. Languages (English and French) play an important role in my life and are a real source of joy. This is one of the reasons why I consider myself incredibly fortunate to be a language teacher.
